ADVANTAGES OF STUDYING I.C. S. E SYLLABUS “The essential purpose of education is to enable the students to learn how to live their life rather than earn a living” In India there are about 36 educational boards functioning to enhance the academic standards at the school level in the country. Of these 34 are State Education Boards and two at the national level namely the ICSE formed on 1st November 1958 and the CBSE which came into existence in 1966 as a result of the recommendations of the Kothari Commission for Education. Both the ICSE and CBSE prescribe the syllabi and conduct the Class X and Class XII External Examination in Schools within the country and even in some schools functioning under them abroad. The syllabi prescribed by the ICSE is very child centered, exhaustive and in-depth. It prepares students to shine out in all types of competitive examinations and gives them a distinct edge in English. The reason being that the study of English Literature is compulsory in both class X & XII and constitutes the English Paper II of both classes in the Board Examinations. Apart from this, the ICSE and ISC syllabi is not only intensive but extensive as well. This can easily be made out from text-books of various subjects like Science, Maths, English etc. The ICSE syllabus inculcates creative thinking and originality in the students & syllabi being followed all over the globe. The practical element which is sadly missing in Indian Education is taken care of by the ICSE at the secondary level in the form of compulsory Internal Assessment and Project Work in all subjects in class X. Especially important is the division of Science into Physics, Chemistry and Biology by the ICSE. Students study these three subjects separately in both class IX & X and the Board Examinations comprise separate papers for Physics, Chemistry and Biology. This important difference equips and prepares students to very easily adjust and adapt in the Science Streams at the +1 and +2 levels. ******* ********** |
