A Priceless gift on Xmas Day

Beating in the bush I searched for pearls set in gold
Beneath me laid thorns and thistles
I looked down and grumbled ……..
Why couldn’t this land be so pretty
as the garden of Eden?
There came a cry…..cry of unknown…from nowhere
I looked up and the angels sang –

“Glory to God in the highest , and peace to His people on earth”.
Who are His people?................ What is Peace?

His people…. are those who are aware of themselves.
They know who they are, what they are.
They also know what they are to others
They know what others are to them and to their own very selves. They know their intentions of living…giving…doing…thinking….getting….forgiving….forgetting….

They know why they are here on earth…what they should be to one another.
So many years have each one of us celebrated Christmas and if God wills,
we would continue celebrating many more …..
What promise should I make before the crib this year?

May we be of any age …any language…..any culture…..
Look deep into the eyes of Baby Jesus ……his eyes will speak to our eyes
Look deep into His lips……his tender lips would speak to us…the do’s and don’ts.
Look deep into His body…..wrapped in swaddling clothes…………..
Look deep into the feet of Jesus ………hands of Jesus………..cheek of Jesus.

Then …….Close our eyes and sit in silence for a while …….

All that pleases will pass away………
All that pains will pass away…………
But His touch will never pass away.

May this Divine Touch of Baby Jesus be the gift on this Christmas Day
for all of us to live the New Year – 2008
with vigour and enthusiasm
in the service of God and our neighbour.
