Lament of a Cactus PDF Print E-mail
Written by Sister Mariella
I mourn and mourn day and night

Envying my companions in varied attire
What stylish shapes, intoxicating odour
Varied hues and fascinating beauty!

One is called Rose, another floppy
 Yet another dahlia, then sun-flower
Here a petunia, there a daisy
Here a marigold, there a jasmine

Here a lavender, there a carnation
Here a gladiolus, there a tulip
Then a petunia and a Zinnia
And you can search for Lily and the Balsm.

If you turn around there is Calandula,
then  Salvia, Pansy, Orchid and Hyacinth,
Begonia, Daffodil, Violet and Iris
Are of a variety set apart.

Here I am –
No name – no fame – everyone blame
For - I prick – I scratch – I tear
I never take, I never give
Everyone fled in fear at my sight
No pain no gain
For me life is death and death is life.

I realise my folly today …….
I need a change  …change for better

I’m ready to shed my pride of horns and thorns
I’m ready to give and take the best and the worst
I’m ready to change my colour and vigour
To live my life happily ..merrily..and purely.
